Lost package? Package delivered--It only took 15 days!

I sent a package to PCGS last week on 1/27, it normally takes three days to get to them (sometimes four days). How long do I wait before notifying the post office?

Is it possible that PCGS is so busy they may have the package and didn't enter it into their system, and it could show up in the system in a day or so?

More than possible. I'd definitely start with them before notifying the post office.
  • Very possible. I believe you need to wait 30 days prior to filing a claim so you don't have anything else to do but wait. Coming from the east coast, mine took about a week.

I'm in southeastern Wisconsin (Between Chicago, Il, and Milwaukee). This is the longest I have ever waited for an package to get to sunny CA. I sent PCGS an e-mail. I hope it is not lost I have a 1921-D half in there that was a gift from my wife.

  • Some of you might recall the case of my missing insured package sent to PCGS that was allegedly stolen by a postal clerk in Newport Beach which led to his arrest; this is the package of the pr70 washington that was being returned for "review."

I filed my claim with the post office less than three days after the package went MIA.

My insurance claim was filed BEFORE the stated waiting period.

The sender of the missing package should notify postal authorities immediately, especially since the PCGS box is a high level target and is closely monitored by postal authorities.

    How was it mailed?

    Do it NOW!!

I'll wait for PCGS to respond to my e-mail, if they don't e-mail, I'll call them, and if they don't have it yet, I'll see the people at the post office tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks, and sorry about the pr70. How long ago did that happen?

I shipped my package via Priority Mail a week ago Monday and it was not listed as received/acknowledged by PCGS until Friday, a day or two longer than usual ... Good luck/best wishes that yours has not gone awry. And, the tracking mechanism at usps.com was totally down and of no help during transit.

Really depends how you shipped it...was it sent Registered? if so 3-4 days would not be that long .... I had a registered from CA to NY take about 2 weeks to get to me...sometimes PCGS is slow to log them in.....but the thread is correct they require a 30 day before you can file for claim so I would wait a few days before panic!!!! good luck with it, hope it turns up!

I called PCGS and they said with the amount of packages they are getting they may have it and just haven't entered it yet.

I thought the people here would want to know--the package arrived today, 2/10 at PCGS.

It only took 15 days, but USPS delivered! It went missing, and is now delivered! Not lost nor stolen!

  • As long as it was sent registered mail, you can request a trace on it. The Post Office plays dumb, but I got
feedback and the package (1950 MS66FS JEFFERSON). Somehow it went to the wrong P.O. some 50 miles away.
I'll check in 6-7 days from now on. I waited 15 days for mine and the seller was getting worried too!

    Ed,

This had nothing to do with PCGS being slow. It took the post office 15 days to deliver! I think it was mis-directed, because it usually only take 3 to 4 days to get there. Panic set in after about six days of the package being missing, and I had way under-insured, because I have never lost a package. Chalk it up to experience--from now on everything will be insured for full value!
