That's some serious coin. I'm glad I'm not trying to put together a PSA 10 1972 set! image

WOW...amazing cards...but if not for Mr. Renaud....they would landed in the mid $200's. Looks like a case of 2 big time snipes clashing with each other.

If not for Mr. Renaud, I would have probably finished my '70 Topps Baseball set several months ago. image Chris has put together an amazing collection of cards from many different sets. I am always amazed when someone does outbid him on an auction (I think I've only done it once or twice). Anyhow, back to the topic, Frank has some incredible sets and is a great source for cards (thanks for the '70 Millan - I received it today). Best of luck with the rest of your sets.

    Dale,

All that means is that the sun is shining on this dog's backside today. I win about 30% of the 10's that go up. Chris probably grabs 40 - 50%, Mike Ledin (cugels) wins 10 - 15%, Dave Read wins some, Erik Olander wins some. It all depends on who's got the cash this week!

Hopefully, I can push the GPA up to 8.85 by year end. It seems like it takes 10 upgrades in order to go up .01 these days!!! And don't forget - Eric O has sort of recharged his quest towards completing his all PSA 9+ set lately. Damn that bonus check!!!image

Well - its all in good fun. Thanks for the nice write up!

  • I'm nipping at FB's heels on the 72 set w/ an avg. grade of 9.02...my goal is to finish the set in 2003 so I plan to make a run at that top spot! FB will need to keep buying 10s to fend me off!

    jackstraw,

I believe that Mr. Olander has the one and only Expos Team in 9 and I don't believe that there has been a Paul Schaal IA yet graded a 9. Two tough ones to say the least!

    jackstraw,

its not too bad... as of about a week ago, there were 28 cards that hadn't yet graded 9. There were also 82 cards that only had 1 PSA 9. So, it shouldn't be long before every card should grade out a 9.

I noticed that there is a PSA 10 example of the Pirates Team card (#1). Any idea who has it?
  • I've been seeing some pretty strong hammer prices on early 1970s cards, witness this 1970 Topps PSA 8 Joe Torre. And it's far from a rare card. Late '60s and early 70s PSA-graded cards may not be as hot as they were a year and a half ago, but eBay results seem to suggest that there are still a lot of set builders out there willing to pay top dollar for the cards they need. That's great news for dealers.
