ANACS Grading, net grades always stated?

Are ANACS coins which have been cleaned always indicated on the slab?

Here's one where the seller says it's cleaned but it's not indicated on the slab.

I believe so. ANACS puts things on the holders that PCGS and NGC don't. For example, insignificant scratches are spelled out as SCRATCHED on ANACS coins, but aren't mentioned on the others.

If the coin is rare enough, they will look the other way or "net grade" it without mentioning it.

The cleaning is probably not that bad if they didn't mention it.

as with ngc & pcgs, anacs routinely net-grades coins w/out explanation.

That may have been cleaned... I would rather see the coin before I make that determination, however, if it was cleaned, it was done in way in which ANACs did not net grade the coin citing "cleaned" as the reason. Without seeing the coin, I view that as a big plus.

I have a anacs coin that both ngc and pcgs refused to cross for cleaning.
I think if I ever sell it I will also say it has been cleaned.
I do think anacs did knock the grade down a few points for it but did not mark it net.

The easiest way to see cleaned coins in holders, is to peak at a few seated dollars. I think they've all been cleaned, and the grading companies still holder them image
It gets worse with rarer date stuff, as GMarguli mentioned.

I've got a couple of circulated Morgans that I put thru ANACS, and I tend to agree with this statement.

Remember...just because a coin was cleaned at some time in it's life doesn't mean it won't get slabbed by ANY of the services....it just becomes the company's definition of what is harsh cleaning and not "market acceptable" in their holder. (ANA grading standards allow for hairlines--an obvious sign of cleaning--and still grading out a coin in the MS 60s for example)
