PHOTOS Added: Rainbow Toned Silver Eagle Registry!

I finally added Photos to my "Peacock Eagles" PCGS Silver Eagle Registry. I know this will never be a top ten set because toned modern coins don't receive the MS69 grade, but I'm having a blast finding these along the way.

    Ryan,
When I go to the Long Beach coin show coming up I'm going to purchase a digital photography system that allows lighting to be utilized to its fullest.
It's a large white dome, placed over the coin, with the camera placed, bracketed, on top.
I've seen the results and the coin pictures turn out awsome!

The purples and golds turn out washed out in these pictures and the luster is coming through.
But, I thought I'd throw these photos up until I improve them.

Pat -- I understand your feelings but urge you to continue with the colors. I have the same opinion of the rainbow proof washingtons Im putting together now. The coins Im selecting are there for the color and not for the grade and it will never be a top registry set but I hope it will be a dazzler for color lovers.

    cheers and enjoy, alan mendelson

the dome screws onto the lense housing and it works GREAT! costs $60.00, but today i shot 10 auctions (20 pix) in less than 5 minutes with every picture done perfect with the first attempt.

can you give a link to your auctions (want to see your photos), I was going to buy the "dome" 2 weeks ago but will probably get it at long beach when I am there.

Nice coins. Collecting what you want is more important than the points!

Where does the light come from?? The flash? , or is there a built in light in the dome??
  • The light source is external, a light bulb, tensor etc. The dome is made of plexiglass and diffuses the light 180 degrees around the object. If your digital camera has a white balance adjustment then it doesn't matter what light source you use to illuminate the dome. It creates a even light source on the image.
