It continues to amaze me that ebay will not shut this guy down! This is an obvious fake and they just don't seem to care. image

But it is "genuine guaranteed." Maybe it's time to report the seller to the secret service. Maybe they'd be unhappy at someone selling counterfeit legal tender US currency.

I thought the government repealed the legal tender status of the trade dollar. Besides, it is too little money for any government to care.

Still, I would pay a $1.00 for it, even with postage.

According to our own TDN, the coinage act of 1965 remonetized the trade dollar.

The sure cared about that 1959 wheat mule. Don't see why they wouldn't care about this. They also care about 64D peace dollars and 74 aluminum cents.

All 1877 and after trade dollars are type II reverses: No berry under the eagle's claw.
  • thanks for the clarification

i agree with this opinion and would add that the "anyone" should have their head examined for sending money to a seller of Bust and Trade dollars in Singapore.Too many potential problems for the buyer even if the piece is genuine.

Many years ago a local man in my home town went on a vacation to Hong Kong.He spotted an 1804 dollar in a junk box of a street vendor.Price was $20.He didn't buy the dollar and got back to the states only to find out that the coin is a great rarity...or so he thought. So he flew back to Hong Kong and bought the coin, returned to the states only to find out that his bargain 1804 dollar is fake.It seems that thousands of counterfeit Bust and Trade dollars have come from this part of the world.
