Explain Sample Slabs To Me!!!

I've been reading the threads from the past week or so about Sample Slabs. Could someone explain to me what they are, what purpose they serve and why a company slabs them that way!

Thank You

Chris

  • PCGS and others hand out slabbed pocket change to advertize their product, the coin will have no grade though! They also hand out empty collector boxes, hoping you fill them up!

They are simply a product sample of what a PCGS holdered coin looks like.
Like when you go past the Hickory Farms store in the mall and there's that girl standing outside handing out samples.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I have a couple of them, just because I did not have one before. One is a PCGS '64 Kennedy, I would say it is MS63 (if you were to slab it), but I only paid $5. I figure it was not that bad, I dont really collect Kennedies so its a cheap example.
