A tough call from the picture/scan... doesn't look original (but in all fairness, how many originals do you see of this date?), but it is well struck. Low end AU50 high end AU58... PROBABLY AU53.

I think Greg was the first to get it right with his guess. I saw what appeared to be friction in the fields on the obverse and thus the lower AU grade.
Either way, nice coin! Is that year a little tougher in PL?
Nice coin. Is it hazy, toned or the typical prooflike chatter?
Surprised with some of the uncirculated grade guesses. I thought 53 any didn't even consider the designation. For those that guessed AU and those that guessed proof-like, good eye. For those that guessed MS, well, notice how the high points in the hair are "rounded" similarly to the "roundness" of the hair over the ear; dead giveaway IN MOST CASES. A coupla' other rounded spots (cotton bolls, hat, eagles thighs and feet) also give it away, although they are as clearly visible, unless you are "detail oriented" and look at this features on Morgan dollars a lot.
Not trying to come off as an expert or anything; thought some "constructive" criticism and "why I feel it is XX grade" might be informative.
