1'st batch of coins i've submitted to PCGS... ARGH@#$

Sent my very first batch of coins for slabbing to PCGS, they arrived on the 10th, the anticipation is killing me, I must check status report several times a day, do they usually or always take around 30 days, problem is, I'm one of the most impatient people on planet earth, I want'em now!!!!!!!!!!

This will also be a nice test of my grading abilities, below is a list of the coins I submitted and my personal grade, I'll repost the PCGS results when the coins arrive.

I put a considerable amount of researh into coin grading, got all the books, bought a binocular microscope, worked at my local coin shop for free in exchange for grading lessons. I hope I'm right on, but who knows..........i can't take this waiting.......Huff,,snort.....

LOL. I saw the "ARGH@#$" and assumed you'd gotten 'em back. Hopefully that won't be the case.

Hmm... let's see... twenty coins, right? I say two bodybags, six or eight graded below what you expected, two pleasant surprises, and the rest about what you expected. Just a wild prediction, based on absolutely no knowledge of your grading skills or PCGS' whims. That seems to be my overall average with most submissions, though I have done more with ANACS than PCGS/NGC.

Hope my prediction turns out wrong.

  • I hope you have better luck with your first submission than I did with mine....thought I had a 62, this is the result:

    1 21238951 1891-CC S$1 Cleaning

Good news for you...mine arrived up there on the 10th as well, so maybe the light is at the end of your tunnel...

Tease, I have an order of Morgans that is at 30 days today. Should be done any week now!!!image

Remember, Feb 2nd is groundhog day. If the groundhog sees his shadow your coins won't be done for another 6 weeks, if he does not see his shadow your coins will be done within the month!!!!image

FUNNY! Except I thought if he saw his shadow, it's 6 business weeks and if he didn't 10.

They say misery loves company, so go add your gripe to the list of people waiting (some since early December), on the Set Registry forum thread.

  • From what I have heard about PCGS, you may be right. my local coin dealer will only use ICG, as he got burned on several coins, undergraded, resubmitted and came back higher...hit or miss....I need to just chill! Thanks for the reply

Send a batch of coins to ANACS for economy service, you'll never moan about PCGS turnaround times again image Guess I can only flame them for undergrading and charging me too much, now image

Amen to that. But when they run the 10/10/10 you can't beat it. Even the 5 day at $15 (it's been a few years) and if you submit over 25 coins it went down to $12.50. I submitted coins with ANACS under econ ONCE, and I'll never do that again...
