Is this a nice Barber Half in MS65?

Has it been cleaned? If so was it a good job? Should it have been cleaned? Is that dipping residue starting to turn brown?

Do you like the coin? Or would you prefer it dark mottled brown toned?

IMO, I think it has been cleaned. It probably looked hideous before the cleaning. Not sure I like it though but better like this than dark.

The coin appears dipped, and the piece was slabbed after it started to retone, or that was what the dip couldn't get off. Overall, it looks nice to me though. Probably not one I would pick out, but it looks better than the fully white, completely dipped pieces.

It's dipped, rotten loking and should be avoided unlesss you just like cheap junky coins.
The great thing about scanners is that they show stains & discolorations you can't see with your naked eye. The dip has striped away the silver & exposed the copper in the alloy, that's why it appears brown. In real life it will be white & shiney unless you give it the evil eye and look real close.

Yes, Here is another typical example that somebody couldn't keep their hands off of it. Another Barber ruined.

a dog a pig with negative eye appeal based on the scan you posted a problem coin and a coin if you buy onlt gets worse every week you own it and finally you bust your ass trying to get rid of it and then are happy to take a loss on the coin just to move it!

if that coins looks as-scanned, it is a crime at ms-65. i would grade ms-61.
