of COURSE it depends on the price. it ALWAYS depends on the price.
it's an awesome coin at greysheet bid, a pretty nice one at ask, above that i dunno, depends on the spot bugs ya, overall this coin is superior to many many proof morgans, even some graded higher
what's up w/ all the "send it to ncs, have them fix it" comments? is that the new catch-all solution?
i doubt the grease stain was what caused the pr-63 restriction. it looks like an average proof to me, which is why the "63" designation makes sense. anything higher would imply something choice about the coin, right?
Well, the stain doesn't bother me really. But then I don't see it for real. My thinking, though, is if it was a factor that would make the coin increase in value by its careful removal then why not consider it? If it couldn't be removed, I'd still enjoy the coin.
What's up with the reverse from the I in United through the word We? It looks like it could be corroded and cleaned up there. I think the "grease mark" on the wing is actually part of that corroded area.
There is nothing wrong with rev except stain, must be the light. The coin shows some hairlines ( and I think the grease stain) is the reason for PR63. You have to hold the coin just right to see the hairlines, the coin shows amazingly clean at almost every angle of sight. The 63 is consevative and the coin looks just like the pic, even the stain, was just curious how much that would effect your interest. Without the stain I believe this would fall into the top 5% for the grade. Does it with it?
That looks terrible! Can you believe that stain on the wing?
(heh, heh, heh) Now how much of a discount can I get compared to one without the stain? I would love a higher grade, but 63 is the grade that fits my budget. I like the cameo look so would trade that for a stain.
The stain isn't that distracting from the pictures, maybe it is in life, though. I think it's an excellent coin to be in a 63 holder. Probably some faint hairlines that knocked it down. It has awesome cameo contrast. I think it's a definite keeper!

The stain it less detracting in life, I took an angle that showed it good. Now for the price... 19 bones. Before you say I must be insane check out prices realized on Heritages web site. It's not far out of line and I really like it even with the stain but wanted to know others opinions because someday it's others I will try to sell it to.
I guess I am in the minority. But the stain to me is distracting. But it`s probably just a personal thing. Did the stain bother you when you first looked at it in your hand. I find that if I find something that bothers me immmediately about a coin that I probably won`t accept it even if there is alot I like about it.
I recently (maybe 10 months ago) sold a white 1893 PCGS PR63CAM Morgan to another board member that was at least as nice as that coin for about $1575.00 I believe. With the market being the way it has been recently, I would say that 1700.00-1900.00 is not out of line for a nice cameoed PR63 Morgan right now.
I think the coins very eye appealing for a 63, a bit pricey at 1900, but lately it seems you have to pay extra for "eye appeal" in almost every series [esp. if you attach cam or dcam to the slab]
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
I've decided to return it, already notified seller. It goes back tomarrow. I would rather say down the road " boy I should have kept that coin", than, " Why the hell did I ever buy this coin"
Is true the stain dont look so good, but it is sure that I will keep that coin because of its beautyful "goodlike" bright and it mirror efect. Good Coin

I think it's pretty nice for the grade.
it's pretty nice.
If price is important what would be your keep range?

You are wiser than you'll ever know.
It's a nice coin but at full CU price, you could probably find a nicer one down the road.
