Anyone else grade this beauty AU?

I was reading this sellers feedback and here is his latest NEG. In responding to it he asks you to look at the coin. I did but I think he obviously has his images messed up image

To me looks at the most AU and at the least XF. Does appear to have light hairlines.

The obverse appears to be XF at best, and there's no pic of the reverse. Why would anyone even bid on this?

No the coin is not AU. No it is not choice. It is cleaned, and a net EF40 at best.
But something is amiss here. If you can believe the feedback, the buyer apparently realized that he screwed up and didn't plan to honor his bid until the seller filed a NPB alert.
Why do some people think that they can buy $1000 coins for $300.
The buyer paid solid EF money for an unappealing EF coin.
