Coin doesn't even appear to be mint state, so no it's not a $13K coin.

  • I read it as "this date coins - if it were ms 65, is a 13000 coin". Sounded like auction double talk to me....

he's only suggesting that you should pay $13k for it.

kind of like the people who list an ACG MS65 and say "the PCGS price guide lists this coin in MS67 at $850,000 - my reserve is well below that"

  • Huh, the bid is already up to $6.50......only $12993.50 until it hits $13k. image

again, guys, a selling technique. seller not saying THIS is an ms65, just that an MS65 trade of this date is worth 13K

might as well say, oh by the way, a Rolex president goes for 13K., so bid on THIS coin!

but his example is a bit more relevant

at a local jeweler, the price marked on every item is double it's "actual" price, and they have a perpetual %50% OFF SALE!!!! going on.

similar strategy, again, works for a subset of bidders, and probably increases final price these auctions go for, unfortunately we all have to go throught that learning curve. not saying it's right, just that the market is so big and verigriated and dynamic that this will go on..

  • well it's already at 6.50

another good strategy is starting a $50 coin at $.01 with no reserve, then posting an absolutely ridiculous BIN of say $250.

without saying it, you've suggested that it's worth $250, making $50 seem like a steal. again - this would only work on that certain subset.
