A bit OT...coin pic viewing on dig Flatscreen monitors

NicNic Posts: 3,411 ✭✭✭✭✭
Has anyone noticed a difference viewing coin pics (yours or others) using a flatpanel vs. conventional monitor? My laptop screens (as good as they get) have never been up to the task...brightness and uniformity mainly. The newer flatpanels offer pretty good resolution and Dp...better than laptops...good enough for high quality coin pics?

Any advice appreciated!

  • They look different even on high-quality LCD flatpanels. A conventional monitor tends to blur the pixels together a bit so it has a more photographic look.

Also a conventional monitor is often set at a higher resolution than an LCD, so there are more pixels per inch and so the photo quality is higher.

But, you can't beat a high-quality LCD for normal extended use, in my opinion. Less eyestrain and no 3-headed children. image
