The United States Mint is proud to announce that 2003-dated Golden Dollars featuring Sacagawea will be available in bags of 2,000 coins and rolls of 25 coins online at www.usmint.gov, beginning at noon on February 3, 2003 (Eastern Standard Time).
These coins will be available to customers in 25-coin rolls for $35.50 and in 2,000-coin bags for $2,190.00. American sculptor Glenna Goodacre designed the obverse of the Golden Dollar coin, which features the likeness of Sacagawea, the young Shoshone woman who assisted Lewis and Clark on their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase almost 200 years ago. The reverse design of the coin, by United States Mint Sculptor/Engraver Thomas D. Rogers, Sr., features a soaring bald eagle and 17 stars, one for each of the states at the time of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Customers can purchase 2003-dated Golden Dollars Bags and Rolls one of three ways: Order via the United States Mint's secure website at www.usmint.gov; call 1-800-USA-MINT (1-800-872-6468); or download an order form at the web site and mail it to United States Mint, Customer Care Center, 801 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20220 (Attention: Order Processing). I swore I heard that due to over-production and the fact that there were still lots and lots of SBAs to be circulated
the Saccies project was over as of `03.
Oh well.I dont even want to try and rationalize this move by our friends at the Mint/Government.
It might make me crazier than I already am now.
Thats scary man.
