My question is: should I break them out of there holders or can you send them to PCGS and they will do it. I have some really nice DCAM

Yes, you can submit them while still in their holders.

    GTOster,

Leave them in the mint capsules, and insert the capsule in a 2.5x2.5 mylar (stiff, NON pvc) flip. Don't worry about PCGS messing up the coins. It's rare that it happens.

    Lori,

What you're talking about is a crossover submission. Yes, PCGS will crack them out IF they cross. In other words if they believe the coin will grade at, or higher, than the other grading company they will crack it out and slab it. Or, in the alternative, you can also tell them "cross at any grade" and it will be cracked out and graded regardless of difference.

GTOster, unless the mint has changed the packaging recently, the capsules are held together with friction (i.e. they open easily), thus there is very little chance for PCGS to damage them.

    Paul -

Are you going to keep the mint packaging for the eagles (box, velvet case, COA)? If not I'd be interested in buying them from you.

    Thanks to all
The reason I asked about opening
I was cracking a proof set last week that had a great DCAM Kennedy in it when the plastic broke right across it and put a nice hair line on the field now it looks like hel- and I have cracked 100's
and this was the first time a set plastic broke like that
    but again thanks
