Rainbow Toned Franklin

Here is a coin I picked up a while back. It's not as nice as some of the ones I've seen on eBay with $2500 price tags, but then again, this coin didn't have a $2500 price tag. image

Wonderful toning on Ben's ugly mug-- it almost makes the design acceptable! image

Nice toning, especially for the date. You normally see the coins from '57 and '58 with the $2,500 toning.image

Greg, that Franklin is the ugliest thing I have seen, and I insist that you sell this dreadful eyesore to me!

Lucy, I wouldn't dream of making you take this eyesore off my hands. It wouldn't be fair to you. You'd be forced to look at it. image

However, I am going to sell it. I've been planning on putting it on eBay for quite some time. image

Beautiful coin Greg and as Tom pointed out- unusual to find terrific, colorful toning (not the typical washed out gray/gold) for the date. You should just cut out the middleman here though (eBay) and go straight to the new owner: Lucy!

Either way, she'd probably end up with this coin.

Does that mean it has a $2500 price tag now?

I didn't intend this to be a "for sale". I've just been lining up my next batch of coins for auction on eBay and I ran into this coin and figured it would be one of the next to go.

The price tag on this coin isn't even close to $2500. I'd let it go for a tiny fraction of that price.

If Lucy (or any other forum member) is interested or wants a detailed description of the coin, post here or PM me.

BTW, the image was done by fellow board member 'tonekiller' aka Bryan at Texas Bullion Traders. Thanks again Bryan!
  • Very pretty piece that could certainly be MS66 material - Greg - are you going to sell this raw or are you going to get it entombed first?
