Chop marked half dimes?

I had never heard of anything other than chopmarked trade dollars. Comments?

Not clear to me if the coins in the picture are the coins you are buying...I don't actually see any chop-marks on them, but the picture is sorta small. Also, some of the coins look to be better than Good or Very Good...seems a little odd all in all.

Lots of U.S. coin denominations other than Trade dollars were chopmarked, including half dimes. Half dimes are fairly rare with chopmarks, while Trade dollars are rather common chopmarked.

However, I don't see the chopmarks on those half dimes.

Almost all series Peace Dollars and earlier have been chopped but they are rare. The Rose book has examples of chopped Double Eagles, B-21 1799 Bust Dollar, 1836 Bust Dime, Large Cents & FE Cents.

If you look close you can make out a couple that have chop marks. The seller states that they all have been marked and a few you can see the bluge from the other side causing wear on in the center. The 1872 in the upper left center is chopmarked and the one at bottom center is as well.

Can't tell for sure if that's a chop mark or just a ding on that 1870-S Half Dime.
Guess I won't take a chance.
But for those that do take a chance, I'd bet you would get a premium for chopped half dimes if you had some and were to sell them. They're real rare. Just have to find the right buyer.

Dang, and I was having second thoughts about maybe bidding just to see if that was really a chopmark on that 1870-S half dime. Chopmarked 1870-S half dimes are hard to come by.
