link he says it's 100% real but it's coming from Taiwan and that makes me ? the autenticity of it? i don't know how to tell if a trade dollar is real or fake.
IMO, subject to being wrong because the picture is too small, I think it's real. I put in a single bid on one of the seller's coins because they appeared genuine, but didn't bid much because how ya gonna get your money back if they aren't?
I would hit mach 1 running away for any coin coming out of that part of the world. WAY to many fakes coming out of southeast asia. Puts into supicison any coins coming out of that part of the world.

Im unemployed again after 1.5 years with Kittyhawk they let me go.
Type I (berry under claw) should have the eagle's right (viewer's left) neck feathers detached with a small gap. Also, the berries above FINE should be flat. This coin has the eagle's neck feathers attached and the small berries are rounded - the engraver based the coin on a Type II reverse except for the berry under the claw.
The first coin pictured has these items correct. If it is a fake, it is a much more advanced fake than the coin I linked.
mbbiker. save your feedbacks. when fakeness is verified we need to neg this guy and shut him down. I just e-mailed him and asked how is he going to make good on his guarantee.
it's not my coin i did not bid on this auction i was just wondering what to look for when buying trade dollars. (TDN are you talking bout my 86-cc if so i can't because it's in the mail)
no pic yet but heres some problems. First and most subjective the coin doesn't feel right. Feels light, wrong color. No period after "FINE". Poor defined denticles. Poor letter definition. The right lower seriff on the "I" in "UNITED" is half the width of the left lower seriff, no sheet!! you have to see it to believe it. Reeding has raised metal blobs. There are large heavy roller type stirations running verticle, nothing like I've ever seen before. I hope we can shut this clown down.
