Lincoln Fans - 1955-S Filled Fives?

What do you folks make of this variety? The guy's got a whole roll of them!?! The bid is at $5,200!?! Possibly rarer than the '55 DDO!?!

Excuse me, I've got 13 rolls of '55-S's I have to look through....image

I have many, many of that particular die in BU. The die crack along the lapel and coat give it away as being RPM#2 (a minor RPM) for the date. This auction bid has to be somehow wrong. That coin isn't worth $5.

Edited to add: And a filled digit in the date does NOT make it a "variety." It makes the coin a "die error."

<< <i>To have the last Lincoln's with wheat ears and a mint mark struck with a brand new variety is an exciting numismatic opportunity. >>

this is dated 1955 i thought that the wheat cents went until 1958 (maybe 1959?)
  • Holy schmolly, I've got a bunch of them. Something is wrong with this. I smell a shill or rat.

I didn't even see that part. I believe what the seller was referring to is that the 1955S was the last S-mint wheat.
