? about Franklin FBL's and breaking a mint set...

So, you have mint sets that are collectable. Then there is this FBL thing that is collectable. Is it worth breaking up a mint set for the added FBL value? What is the FBL value.

This depends on the year of the mint set. A whole bunch of these mint sets have been broken, and I believe that they are very scarce now and their values will climb. I may just let the mint set be. However, if the Franklins were ms66fbl with some very beautiful toning, I probably would break it up......

  • Maybe it's just worth noting "FBL" with the original mint set. That is probably the best plan.

Without the weight of PCGS or NGC's stamp of FBL approval the listing of FBL may not mean much in the price you realize when you sell the set. Actually, if you've seen the wide variations of what the grading services call FBL, the seeing is believing.

    Cowbilly,

Pmh hit it on the head. A FBL coin isn't special, but a FBL holder is. Go figure.image
