1942 Lincoln Error??

Please see attached pictures...
When I first saw this 1942 penny, I figured someone might have hit it with a hammer but on closer inspection, I notice the Liberty seems to be elongated (sp), the same with the wheat ear on the back of the penny. (you probably can't see it in the scan). The area that is oblong on the obverse appears to be cupped a bit, the reverse is flat. I'm not sure if this is a mint error or someone's handy work. I'm not an expert so I look forward to your expertise.
Thanks,
Dave
