Suggestions for cleaning slabs??

I know Brasso works well on PCGS slabs for getting out light scratches, but it does not work well on NGC slabs. Does anyone know of a good way to clean up NGC slabs?

  • This is an ongoing source of frustration - having a pretty coin in a scratched up holder! I've found that KIT SCRATCH OUT scratch and haze remover (in the car wax aisle of your favorite Walmart) works pretty well - it doesn't get rid of the big big marks - but it does work well with all those annoying hairlines!

I might have found something that works. Use a dab of Toms of Maine peppermint toothpaste, but water it down a bit. Rub on with your finger for a few seconds in a circular motion, then wipe of with a soft cotton cloth. It seems to work pretty well as it did get rid of the haze my slab had from alll the tiny hairlines. And if nothing else, the slab smells peppermint fresh now.image

3M plastic polish works on any slab for most garden variety scratching. For deep gouges, nothing works.

  • just use regular ol vaseline, the petro-free kind. *poof* scratches are gone. wipe residue off with
    soft toilet tissue

Novus makes a line of plastic cleaners and scratch removers. Works pretty well.
