Your Best "Designation Coin" that didnot get the Designation.

Some pretty High Dollar coins, to me anyway, that get FB, FH, FBL can be had for very little money. Just miss coins are the best value there is IMO. Show one or tell us about one you may have. Certified or Raw, let us know.

Here is my favorite one that is in the collection. $61 Bucks from Ebay a year or so ago. $700 Bucks and up if it would have got FB. A PCGS 66 coin 1939S.

  • Without a doubt it has to be the 53S Franky below in MS66 - Lucious coin with as bold a strike as you're going to get in a non FBL coin. MS66 price when bought? $160. Today - $250-300. MS66FBL Price? $69,000. You figure it out! image

  • I love coins that just miss the designation!

I love very well struck Standing Liberty Quarters with %90 Full Head. The shield could be better struck than the shield on a FH quarter at a very reduced price!!! Mine is pretty darkly toned and I don't have a good image.

Someone posted a Franklin with a DCAM obverse, the reverse didn't make it.

Those Mercury and Franklin coins above are also great examples.

I have a '50 Cameo Jefferson at PCGS now because I always thought it should be DCAM. I recently posted an image of a '40 Jeff that just misses Cameo.

Here is a twenty cent piece that should be cameo IMO, but didn't get it. My guess it too much toning...

  • Another favorite of mine is this Franklin - not in my registry set, but still special because of the strike and tone. Cost in MS65 - $41 at the time of purchase. Cost in MS65FBL today - about $1,100. image

I have a proof 1953 quarter that has some cameo, but the fields don't contrast out enough. Great coin, and I picked it up at a great price.
