About five years ago right before I retired from active duty with the Army i bought a barrel, metal bottom with cardboard sides, full of pennies from one of my co workers. A few years later after going through all of them this one stood out and I put it in a 2x2. This coin exhibits full luster but it is an au58 because i assume all the coins in the barrel to be circulated. The toning is purple/magenta on the left obverse and is wild purple/magenta/yellow on the whole reverse. Hard to photograph in the 2x2 and get the full effect of the toning. This is a 1980. There is absolutely no reason for it to have been whizzed and then have questionable toning put to it. It isnt worth anything anyway. The toning is real. No question about it.

Watching the goings on in here lately I have learned to keep these aside - there's at least a decent chance that someone might pay good money for a complete "toned" memorial set once I get it done...and if not, the coins can still go into circulation. I wouldn't collect them like that for myself.
