new holders & value*

1) are PSA cards in newer holders ( past two years) worth more if the same card were in a holder of a previous generation? Seems at least with 8's-9's & 10's PSA has gotten tougher on grading as thr cases are more modified??? As such is the case with SGC regardless of the grader musical chair politics of late!

2) Are SGC 96 cards of the 60-s worth reslabbing in PSA holders assuming the PSA 9's**8 are of a greater demand ??

3) lastly,I have noticed a slight reduction in standards in GAI holders. Is this so or am I just seeing a small sample of the ( 1st grade cards??

$) O.K. I might as well break the bank with this post. I have most of the highest graded ( according to the pop report) E-92's in the collectors World. Can I easily get PSA to create a registry for them or do I have to go through a bunch of ropes with other collectors creating a public vote to do it ET??? Vintage collectors will enjoy posting their E-92's I suspect.

    email setregistry@collectors.com
and ask them to add the set.takes
awhile but they will email you when
done.as to sgc 96s you might want to
know the seller as he/she might tell
you which are worth a crossover attempt.
the old bar code psa cards are sometimes
questionable as to their grade vs the more
recent (1-2 year) versions.then again some
will say that last week's submissions were
    too generous so who knows?.

Brian- The E92 Dockman set is already on the registry- are you planning on adding scans of the keys? That would be a nice set to see

Brian- do the E92's come with different backs, and do people collect just the same back on the set, (as opposed to a set like T206, where any back goes usually)? Which of the E sets (other than Cracker Jacks) do you like the best, and why?
Murcer- just tell me now much and when to send the check!
Paul- Sorry to do that to you, I'll keep you in mind next time!

  • Just a humble response on issue #2. I busted out two SGC cards (1963) and re-submitted to PSA. One was a 96 the other a 92. Both came back 9s. I was extremely happy.

When considering busting out SGC encapsulated cards, I think the rule of thumb is to look closely at the centering, since SGC does not downgrade for poor centering. If the centering is OK, it would definitely be worth your while to break the SGC holder to have PSA grade the card, since SGC resale value is horrible.

  • << <i>Brian- do the E92's come with different backs,

4 back variation Antwon, Dockmans ( the most common), Croft's candy-Croft's Cocoa and Nadja* The Nadjas are the rarest and I have found the green-Stone card to be excpetionally difficult. I have three in PSA holders. Do not confuse these with the E-104 Nadjas that have a different font on Obverse Anthony! The centering on the Cocoa's is impossible to locate better than 60/40 reverse. The C-candy may come in blue(very rare) and Red-super rare-4 known.I have one and one just sold in a group in Mastro for big coin. There are 11 St.Louis Nadjas only discovered in around 1980 and I have been offered $30k for the only known Tango Wagner*To locate any of these in grades of Ex/mt or better is real tough and a PSA 8 of any including the Dockman's would sell for 2k plus as a common. The sky is the limit as a Hall of Famer!

and do people collect just the same back on the set, (as opposed to a set like T206, where any back goes usually)?

Look on the POP report! They have seperated them out now so it appears that the four groups ( E-92-1-4*) are excepted commonly as different sets to complete. Please see page 10 of Lew Lipsets Encyclopepia of baseball cards Vol 1 and Alan Hagar double kint slackers book pages 127-8 for both photos and descriptions of the E-92 issues!

Which of the E sets (other than Cracker Jacks) do you like the best, and why?

E-105 Mello Mint. They are exceedingly difficult in high grade because they are printed on paper about the consistantcy of crepe paper. They are also very attractive as the PMS of each color is not reproduced in anything else you would find to date.

I will at some point register my 37 of the complete set of 50 I possess.

I've always felt this is too tough to call, because so many cards have been reholdered over the years. There's no way to know if a card was graded in '92 or '02.

<< <i>2) Are SGC 96 cards of the 60-s worth reslabbing in PSA holders assuming the PSA 9's**8 are of a greater demand ?? >>

For the most part, probably yes if they'll cross to PSA 9.

I don't know if they've really graded enough to figure a lax standard? Just not enough sample size out there.

Wouldn't think it should be too hard, especially because it's a small set - shouldn't be too much data entry time. Dockmans? Mixed? Master set???
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?
  • Craz my man!

small set? 200 cards and multiple variations of 1/2 of those= around 300 different! Does this constitute a small set in your opinion?image
