I sold an entire MS only set in PCGS slabs two years back for around that price, but I had the gold in it as well.
Also, could be that the seller could have made more by selling the pieces individually?
My experience when I put my set together was that NGC and PCGS are almost right on each time when it comes to modern commems, at least on the MS side. Now, ICG on the other hand...

Not for an NGC 69 -- most NGC 69s sell on eBay in the $250-$300 range.
I know I'm going to get flamed big-time for saying this, but IMHO NGC is significantly looser on modern commemoratives than either PCGS or ANACS, and about equivalent to ICG. Take that MS69 Washington -- on eBay, it's a $250-$300 coin, while a PCGS 69 Washington will fetch $1500-$2000. An ANACS 69? Unknown, as the current population of ANACS 69s is *0*. There has been exactly 1 ICG 69 on eBay in the past two years, while in the same timespan there have been at least a dozen NGC 69s.
I'd pay 73$ all day (and night for that matter) for 1996-D mint Oly.'s, NCS, Smithsonian, J. Robinson, Officers and the list goes on. It's a good price for a nice set as far as I'm concerned; complete without the hassle of assembling individual coins if your'e not geared toward "the chase".
On the coins that I have examined, I believe NGC's grading to be equal to PCGS's for modern commemoratives. The reason that the prices are lower for NGC material is that there is a perception that NGC is looser.
The populations are statistically similar:
NGC has graded 55 in MS-69 and 204 in MS-68, PCGS has graded 36 in MS-69 and 205 in MS-68, so the differences are not as far off base as people believe.

At 10k for 126 coins that's an average of $79 each.
I think only about 10 or so are worth over $80.
But he does have the Washington 50c in MS 69 so that's $800+, but still that would put them at $73 each.
I think the seller got a good price - a lot more than I would pay.
