Oh My, I forgot to share this toned Peace$ Sorry Frattlaw

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
It's graded ms65 by NGC. It is much lighter than my image and has nice original surfaces and nice luster. Original if you feel album tone is originalimage

I do.

  • Im not Frattlaw but thats a very nice coin anyways, the triangle kind of toning is kind of odd, but cool none the less.

For a moment there I thought you were going to provide another link to an Ebay Auction that I'm going snipe!

That's Anaconda's coin, I've seen that one before. Is that the sister coin to mine or is the one you got from Strat the sister coin?

Mine's more circular then that one, but I like it none-the-less. Great coin! Love them toned Peaces!

Frattlaw, no this is my coin. Yes this is what I call the sister coin to the other one I got from Strat. There was a decent sized group of these slabbed years ago. At the San Jose show last weekend a guy had quite a few from the same group. One caught my attention, but I promised you I wasn't getting anymoreimage.

Don't ask me why it has white areas on it either because I can't explain that either! image
Clearly not bag tone like you said the coin in the other thread was but looks like wyatt raymond or something similiar.
    It's neat and unusual.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

If you mean just the white parts of the coin? there is clearly a skin, patina, crust, whatever you want to call itimage. Not that there has to be, but there is. I don't drink but I'm gonna pour a glass of wine.

I don't think it's WR toning. WR has distinct toning of auburn, greenish rims. This is far too colorful.

Strat - I meant that's the coin you purchased from Anaconda for some outrageous sum image

First of all I'm stman not Strat. Second you don't have an idea what I paid, you know what it listed for. Why is it always an issue what a person pays. It's better than paying for raw AT on ebay. Do you see these kind of coins raw on ebay?

Why make a public thing of what a person pays for a coin, to make fun of them. I can say one thing I will step up and pay for a great coin, and I have many coins that set themselves apart from the normal, and I love them. image

Crust is good. So how do you think it got toned?
Since you're going to pour a glass of wine come on over here and I'll split a bottle of maddog2020 with you. I'm not going to to tell you how much it cost either but it was cheap!

Dog, I think all the coins from this group look kind of the same. I think they toned in an old whittman album but I can't prove that. The hole in the midle on rev is odd. I feel this one might have moved in the album at one time hence, the crescent shape rather than the other one I have and the ones I saw have more of just a regular album tone obv.

As far as MD 20 20, man it's been years and years for that rott gut wine. I think the last time I drank something like that I ended up in Chino.

Stman -- sorry no insult intended with the Strat thing, I was reading about the Strat coin and for some reason I typed Strat instead of Stman. image

As for the reference to the outrageous price, I wasn't making fun of you, I was merely making a comment on the prices Adrian usually asks/charges for his coins. I'm sure you didn't pay his asking price, you are far too sharp to pay that kinda of money for that coin. And I don't remember stating what Adrian's price was so I didn't make anything public image.

As for the toning, I was told that these sister coins I have referred to actually toned in the NGC holder. The older NGC holders didn't have gaskets between the paper label and coin. Over time, the paper interacted with the coin and wala -- nice colors. Don't know if it's true, but it does come from a reliable source. image

I guess that makes it holder toned.image I'll buy that for the top of the obv & the bottom of the rev since that was near ther insert paper. I think the bottom red blue & purple band are from some kind of album. Almost looks like a bag crescent doesn't it?

Frattlaw, maybe I did pay his price, so that would make me not sharp? Not trying to give a bad time here , I just posted a coin to show. But it seems people have to get wrapped up in who you got it from or whether you got a good deal, or you can't be that dumb to pay a high price. I could show you some stunners, but did I get them for blue sheet, or what the previous ebay prices were, heck no.

I'm done now and done posting coins also, have a nice nightimage

Stman-- You're looking way too far into my post. I was merely asking was that the coin you got from Anaconda when I asked if it was "his" coin. You had previously told me you bought a toned Peace $ from him. As for the comments on the price, again this wasn't a jab @ you. It was a comment on his pricing.

It doesn't matter what you paid, are you happy with the coin, that's all that matters. I don't think it reflects on you one way or the other what you paid. I've overpaid for everything I ever wanted, jut ask my wife. Price doesn't matter to me if I want something.

We've had an amicable relationship, if you can call it that on these Boards, I would hope that continues and again, if I posted anything to raise you dander, I apologize.

Hey Frattlaw, no problem here, just making a point. Yes we have got along quite well on here and I don't want to throw an axe in anything, so please accept my apology also. Shoot I'm getting all choked up over hereimage

You think I over pay on coins you ought to see me up at the bunny ranchimage Oh that's another subject and I'm on a public forum.

FrattLaw just overlook stman's remarks. He's just a grumpy old time collector.
He insinuated I was committing fraud because I posted my new rare & valuable ACG slab in another thread.
