Could a PH test detect a dipped coin?

OK, a little OT, but I was just curious. Since PH can be easily measured with strips, would it be possible to determine a coin with above average acid levels? One drop of distilled water on the surface should be enough to conduct a proper experiment.

<< <i> I have over 17 years of experience using PH strips... at my place of work, when we found a unknown chemical we would PH it to find out how 'hot' it is, or after removing quartz from the quartz cleaner we would also check how hot it is since nitric acid was used. >>
