How do you think this one toned. It's kind of weird in front of Franklins face that little circle. Text

  • I've seen that one before and while very pretty - $3500 will buy you a very keen MS64FBL 1953S as well. Go with that one instead I say - When I get back home I'll see if I can post one that a board member got recently that I think runs circles around this one, except it went for under $800. This one is pretty - but you just have to be in love with it to go that high. (IMHO)

I totally agree with Frank. Nice coin, but way too expensive. I too have seen this on ebay, and there is no way that I'd spend that much on it. Maybe somebody, like a Lawyer (wink) would be able to spend that kind of money. But, for the average collector, that's insane. I like Franklins, and am motivated right now to finish my dad's set, in which toning was his emphasis. But even with my emotional factor, I'd steer way clear. Hell, you could get proof gold with that kind of money.

That is one wicked looking coin; Anaconda, you need to send it to me as an act of charity - I' would never be able to buy that.

Frank, I am looking forward to seeing the coin that will "run circles around this one."

    Oh, and I don't think I'll ever have a FBL 53-S @ $3500; definitely not a PCGS64FBL (using the 3 line standard).

Folks, he's not trying to sell the coin he just wanted another venue to talk about his book image.

Anaconda, I just finished reading a biography of Benjamin Franklin so I found your notes on book subscriptions and binding quite interesting (nice coin also image).
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

Gsaguy, careful now!!!! Thanks for the replies. I knew people would be shocked at the price, but I was asking how do you feel it toned this way. And that little circle in front of the portrait, how that got there?

    Thank you
