MAN!!!! Every time I see CC's work, I just drool all over my keyboard! That is an AWESOME coin, and an AWESOME job of cataloguing and photographing it by CC.
I guess I'm just gonna have to start figuring in the photo costs just like I do the slabbing when I buy coins from now on, cause I gotta have some of THAT!

That is just stunning work. CC, mine are coming....just as soon as my wife tells me where she hid the checkbook!

Clackamas - The CC photo work is truly awesome!! I do have a question, however. You state that this is a DDO but, as a former machinist and die press operator, I remember we used to have "die shifts" which is the die slipping as it hits the target metal. I guess I need to be schooled in the difference between a DDO (like the 1955 Lincoln which is a true DD) and what appears to me to be a "slide"as the target is struck.
Perhaps you or some of our board menbers can explain this to me. I would appreciate any insights!

I appreciate the comments, guys, but even as good as you think these images turned out, I'm not quite happy with them so I have taken a new regiment of photos. I will edit them and put them on the server tonight - they will be there and viewable tomorrow. There will be a few more of them.
Mastahanky - Actually it only takes 10X to make this doubled die jump out at you, even though the photos were taken at a higher magnification for clarity...30-35X to be more precise. Oh...and the terminology for it is "doubled die" - not "double die". By the way, CONECA, NCADD, and Fivas-Stanton all disagree with your opinion. All have this die listed as one of the major ones of the Lincoln cent series.
Coppernicus - I posted to a thread about the difference between doubled dies and machine damage doubling one time a couple of months ago. I can't get the search thing to work for me the way I would like to or I'd link it for you. There is a very marked difference between the two, and a little experience viewing them goes a long way.
NBSQLGeek - A Sony digital camera, a decent stereo-optical microscope, a fiber optic light guide halogen lamp, Adobe Photoshop, and a lot of time practicing. All together, around $3,500 in equipment and hundreds of hours of experience.
