4 1914 Lincolns to be released...

in Houston to hopefully be retreived and brought to a coin show here for a `reward` of $100 each.

Thats all the details I know right now.Anyone else hear of this?

    yeah, they did it in Salt Lake City before the big ANA show here in 2001. Except our puny city only got two released into circulation. They were the famed 1914-D cents in VF or XF. Don't know if they were ever found.

  • This was done at the Central States Show in Columbus, Ohio last year (2002). The local newspaper runs a Sunday column called Coin Comment. The writer announced that four 1914D Lincoln Cents, valued at $100 each, were going to be released into circulation as a promotion for the show. Never heard if any of the coins were found and turned in.

    well i have 3 here i just pulled outta a bag...lets turn em in...im waiting on the 14-d...i found every year in this 5000 bag i bought except 1909s or svdb, 1931, and 1922 d...all others have been pulled in multiple outta this bag...best mix ive seen in years...all im doing is separating em...not sure what to do from there...have 5 1909, 4 1914, about 40 clipped lamination, and im only half thru the bag image
