Showed some tone dealers at a show last week and they said endroll, i.e. shotgun roll but I'm having trouble with that because shotgun crimps are closer to the peripheral of the coin but then again I haven't seen everykind of shotgun roll made. Another tone guy, I think it was art or gemtone said in a post a while back some rolls had round paper paper disks at the ends but he didn't have any details.
I know some old commems had round areas in the holder that leave toned circles but I'm not familiar with commem holders.
Another coin being on top should have blocked the toning and made it a white spot unless the coin was already toned first.
The coin is gold colored and the rev is just a little lighter. The circle is the same size as a penny.
You guys know I like the weird ones and this one is weird all right.

Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

The rest of paper was discarded. So, you have a whiskey shot glass circumference surrounded by the sulferated paper sitting on top of the Morgan. Over time, the "gasses" from the sulferated paper (which surrounds the edge of the shot glass) were "trapped" INSIDE the whisky shot glass (like a vacuum) thus creating the "etched round" toning effect over the Morgan. The blue toning is where the sulferated paper/tissue came in direct contact with the coin (surrounding the edges of the shot glass and thus transfering it's more jagged shape). The other magenta/russet color "inside" the blue circle was created when the gasses were trapped inside the shot glass. The flow of the color within the circle is further evidence that this might be so (this flow can be seen on Liberty's cheek).
You might want to see if a "whiskey shot glass" would "fit" over the toning. If so, I could be right. If NOT, well - this is just a guess anyway. GREAT looking coin in any event.

cello and staples. I do not think PCGS will grade that coin. I can't think of another way this would have happened.

I was kinda leaning towards <<<it almost appears to have been rested on something not only circular but also corrossive<<<<
A corrosive toilet seat maybe?
