  • Well if 1937 proof Buffalos are overvalued then I must consider selling my icon image Naw, my wife loves it and I'd never get away with selling it even for a %92 profit!

Nice article and thanks for posting the link.

I'm glad you posted that Mark. When I received my Monthly Supplement, I was going to link the article over at CDN, but they still had last months article up. It is a very informative piece. Thanks again.

Nice article. I can't believe the 25-S was so cheap back in 89. Wow...

Value, however, is a matter of opinion I think. You can find great value by just buying cherry-picked coins in MS64 or 63. That way you get just a good of coin for less dough. Will the price appreciate as much as the low pop stuff? No but at least you can actually FINISH the set before you "croke" and without going broke. image

Articles of this type are truly 'value added' to the hobby. I don't collect this series, but just from reading the article addresses issues that will impact other series, so definate food for thought.

I have grown to love the Buffs very, very much, and am working on a raw set.

But why did EVERYONE decide to love them even more just as I got into them?image

Thanks for the great article, Mark!

I've always been tempted to try to put together an UNC set of Buffalos, and this just further whets my appetite. Great article, Mark. Thanks for posting.

for me the article was an fantastic read and extremely well put together!!!!!!!!! wow! wild!! we need more articles like this giving us food for thought............................

this article made me think ................

    that certain dates
in superb gem mintstate ngc/pcgs 67
    with exceptional eye appealling toning
are really great coins to own
    if they are good values!
as then the potential i think has much to go! yes yes

    for example

    the 1937-d buff
    in ms67
    ngc/pcgs
    exceptional/great toning
this date with all these above attributes
is to me a great value with a long ways to go potential wise!

    **********************************************************************************

    for certain dates
    in superb gem proof67 ngc/pcgs
with exceptionally eye appealling toning OR part of a fully original not put together proof set!
are really great coins to own
as then the potential i think has much to go! yes yes

    for example

    the 1936
    in satin proof67
    ngc/pcgs
    exceptional great toning
this date with all these above attributes
to me is a great value with a long ways to go potential wise

    ************************************************************************************

    the 1937
    proof67
    ngc/pcgs

which is a deeply brilliant coin nicely toned exceptionally toned or even blast white
but is part of a fully original not put together proof set from 1937 with all the coins being 66 or higher with a red cent

in this context the buffalo along with all the coins are not only a great buy! but a fantastic buy and an even more super value with unlimited potential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    **********************************************************************************
and i will not even get into the cameos!

and also any walkers or mercs in proof as pertains to the above !! but the coinshave to be either high grade 67 monster toned or cameo!! also unlimited potential and a great value!

  • Hmmmm, the 1924-P in MS65 is undervalued they say, priced at $620 bid.

And I know where I can pick one up tomorrow for $580 (as marked).

    Tempting.

  • >>Nice article. I can't believe the 25-S was so cheap back in 89

Remember its 1989 dollars. Given a 3% rate of inflation that same $7800 is about $11800 today's money. Still a nice return with an average annual return of 11%.
