These images were shot under ideal conditions; i consider it a three degree coin.

and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
Early toned proof coins often have this characteristic.

Beautiful coin as always Adrian - what were the "ideal conditions"?

PS Thx for the treat.
I'm faced with this conflict pretty often. I have spent hundreds of hours (that's no exageration) learning how to produce images and i've
shared a great deal of what i know, much of it here in this forum. Here's the conflict -- I don't want to sound like a jerk but i also don't
want to give away a competitive advantage. (Not all my images are great.... we don't swat flies with sheets of plywood....but when i
want them to be good, they're pretty good.)
Suffice it to say, if you have a camera, a scanner and the desire to learn, you can do better than me. I'm still learning every day.
So, do i sound like a jerk? Really? Man, i thought i was doing a pretty good job of sounding fairly reasonable.
Ok, here's a hint. Scans rarely show luster but they can show color the best.
Flourescent light do a better job than scans on luster but not as well on color. You can usually use them at night - try out the kitchen lights under your cabinets.
Incandescent lights show luster the best, as far as i've determined, but don't usually show color very complimentarily.
Natural light can be the best, right before sundown and right after sunup.
Oh....always use a copy stand or tripod.
There.....less of a jerk?

One of my favorite images -- (if you're a regular, you've seen this already)...

Oh Adrian - you're such a worrywart
You forget the number 1 rule of engagement - if you don't have a pretty coin to take a picture of, you cant take a pretty picture! What difference does it make what kind of technique you use if you have a crummy coin - good coins will always hold their own in the competitive arena - but you already knew that right? - Anyway - you did confirm one theory I had about the different kinds of lighting - so that's good

That half is awesome. Sorry, but I have to ask, is it for sale?
