Thanks to Mark Wingard, Rick Snyder, Noah Popp, John Moran, Greg Fisher and my brother Jayson, I am only 0.01 rating points behind the Best Modern Football Set of the Year (1972 to present). I have posted a want list of the upgrades that I need on the
Vintage Sportscard Trading Message Board.

Please LMK if you can help with a few upgrades.

    Carlos... your set building skills are really quite amazing...
    hey... this might make a good post by itself... but what does it feel like to complete a set? do you feel like you've just climbed mt. everest? do you want to start a new set? just curious... I rarely finish anything I start... though I did finally finish my connie hawkins player set ;-)

    Congratulations on all the hard work you put into your 72 football set. To be on the verge of putting together such a high quality set that rivals John Mclane's 72 set is quite an achievement. When he first listed his set my jaw kinda of dropped at his 5 years of work on that set and its high quality.

    Its going to fun over the next few months watching you and John upgrade your sets

    I have put together a few set over the past couple of years and I must say that I just love this 1972 Topps Football set. My quest has cause me to minimize my collection, but it is well worth it.

    When my good friend Gary Paul of TOP SHELF CARDS sold me the last 20 cards that I needed for my set I went crazy. I was the first to complete a 1974 Topps Baseball, and 1976-77 Topps Basketball sets, but the feeling of accomplishment was (for some reason) overwhelming with this set.

    What's next? I was drawn out of set building and switched to player sets...(short attention span I guess)
    but that 1975 Topps Basketball set is quite a bear...

    I'm sticking with the 1972 Football. Just looking to upgrade the set.

    I have been fooling around with the 1985 Topps Football Set but I HATE THOSE BLACK BORDERS!!!image

    I checked out your progress on the 85 Topps Football and I have to say I am impressed. This is such an underrated set, but I feel it doesn't get the proper attention because it is a modern set. Completing these Black Bordered Beasts (71 Topps baseball, 85 Topps football, 85 Donruss baseball, 86 Topps baseball) in hi grade is a labor of love. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress.
