"Buy it Now" ???

As I check ebay dealers "Other Auctions", I notice that many dealers will have dozens of auctions pending but only one or two of those auctions will offer a "Buy it Now" option. Putting it another way...why does a dealer go the "Buy it Now" route on some coins and not on others? Twowood image

Anything I list with a set price, I put a BIN up. Anything that starts at $10.00, I don't bother. Just let the bidding go. The BIN disappears as soon as the coin has a bid. Sometimes I'll put a reserve on a coin for something like half it's wholesale value, just to keep the BIN up and running for a little bit.

The Buy It Now option disappears after someone bids (unless it's a reserve auction and the bids are below the reserve). Perhaps some of the auctions you looked at had a BIN, but that option is now gone as there's a bid made?

If there were a way to keep the BIN option up for a while without using a reserve, I would do it.

However, I'm not going to pay 5¢ per auction only to have someone deactivate the BIN with a 1¢ bid.

Greg, have you done much with yahoo auctions? You can do it there (with lower listing fee, but usually lower final sale price as well)

I've run a few, but that was a long time ago and I didn't have much luck.

I've thought about trying it again since the eBay fees seem to go up non-stop and every "free" option is now being charged for.

How are the prices realized there for "No Reserve Starts @ 1¢" stuff?

Some sellers, that list for 10 days and close every weekend so have overlap, and have between 50-150 auctions going have a very large following. Some of their stuff goes for too much.

My success has been similar to yours - lower final value but also lowering submission fees and lower final value fees. Quite afew sellers continually relist on Yahoo and use it like a retail store - 59.95 with a 59.95 buy it now. Do some searches - you had a very big pile of stuff on eBay last weekend, I didn't see closing values, but it was looking like my results (grading companies, auction company, delivery company) making lots of money off of my time and leaving less for me than I started withimage
