Does anyone know the final sales figures on Salt Lake City commemoratives?

  • Final sales figures are not known at this time - at least publicly. But the law required that no more be minted after Dec.31, 2002. That does not necessarily mean they may not be sold after that date.

    The coins are currently listed as Unavailable at the Mint site - but that may mean temporarily.

    where did you get that 10k figure for the $5 MS?
  • My mistake - at least according to Coin World. They reported previously that sales must stop on Dec. 31st as well as mintage. But in this story they confirm my previous post that sales may continue. Their report on the numbers to date are here -

    As of Jan 7, the Numismatic News mint reports for the mintages of the 2002 Olympic commemorative coins are as follows:

    $1 silver uncirculated 35,396
    $1 silver proof: 142,877
    $5 dollar gold uncirculated 5,727 (sold out)
    $5 dollar gold proof 8,888
    two coin proof set 19,122
    four coin set 5,000 (sold out)
