Why not a kointain size slab with lettered edges?

Perhaps Conder would know if anyone has ever done this, but I can imagine collectors loving such holders. Grade and serial# could be placed on the outer edge. What a nice display such a collection would make in a dansco with appropriate holes. Coincidentally, the grade would not be in evidence unless the collector chose remove the coin from the album, thereby once and for all returning focus to eye appeal. TBT, I know this is premature, but it would be a marketing coup.image

  • At one time years ago I did see a prototype for just such a slab. It was a round plastic slab about two inches across and all of the infromation about the coin was printed so it was visible on the edge of the slab. The front and back of the slab had no printing on them and the coin was in the center of the slab feld in place with a translucent polyethelene ring like the present PCGS slabs use. Unfortunately I was not interested in gathering information about the companies at the time and I do not remember what company produced the slab.

Doesn't the current DCGS have a holder like this?

    nwcs,

They have a holder that shows the edge of the coin, but that's not what Don is talking about. Kointains are thin little two sided things that fit snugly on the coin and add close to zero to the diameter and depth.
