I need that year for my collection too image Thats a $5k coin in MS63, cant imagine what it would be worth with that strike and luster! (had it not been messed up of course)

A real shame! Cleaned and gouged on the cheek. A gouge would be easier to live with than a polishing, but two strikes kills it entirely.

Thats a great strike too for an O.Nice reverse strike.

Too bad about the damage. The area under her chin also looks worked on or rubbed?
    I guess its a NG?
  • I love how dealers always say "wiped with a jewelers cloth". Unless they did the cleaning, how do they know?? Looks like it was wiped with industrial strength toilet paper. I recall cleaning that particular coin and I remember using 30 grit sand paper. image

Sigh, it's still a great coin, a three legged doggy. If I was still collecting Morgans, I'd buy it.

image thats to sad but I think it is still worth a few hundred dollars with that kind of strike.

Dog, that's a heck of a strike on that coin. Hair over the ear is strong the way you like it. And for an O mint to boot. I bet you would still love it.

But I thought you only cried when Old Yeller died?

  • Did the seller do this or did he just witness it

  • A little solder to fill the hit on the face and some well done AT and it's good as new.

    Where's CoinDr?

  • most totals come with a salvage title. maybe take it out of state, rebuild it, roll the odo. & run it through a public auction -not-.
