Cameo Proof Jeffersons

OK I was able to make some images of a few proof Jeffersons. All lighting and settings are the same for all 4 photos.
Here is a PCGS PR 68 1955 Jefferson. It is fully brilliant with excellent mirror like fields and no frost at all:
This is a 1987 in PR 69 DCAM. It is very frosty and also has excellent mirror like fields:
Now it gets harder. PCGS and NGC need to draw a line between cameo and not cameo. However the coins can have any degree of frostiness.
Here is a 1950 that was graded PF 67 Cameo by NGC. The frost is a little thin on the lapel by Jefferson's neck:
This is another 1955. This one was graded PR 67 Cameo by PCGS. There is slightly more frost on the lapel:
To me a coin that just misses cameo is worth a little more than a brilliant coin. That is the kind of thing I like. I think just miss coins are bargains.

Nice pictures. I have tried with very little luck to get nice pictures of cameos. The only cameo coin with a decent picture is the icon I loaded this month. I posted several pictures to my 1938 – current circulation set this weekend - some are good others need work. I having problems with the lighting and can not seem to be able to duplicate my results.

I agree on those almost coins. This is an almost super Franklin... but the reverse is brilliant. Still, nice in a PCGS PR67 holder for $30.
Carl makes an important, but subtle point when it comes to assigning brilliant vs. cameo vs. Deep cameo and it is especially important with regards to the SMS years, IMHO. It is not the amount of frost that makes the difference (obviously you have to have SOME frost), the mirrors really make a big difference, especially to PCGS. Many coins that are "Very Frosty" will only receive cameo grade because the mirrors are lacking. That has been my experience anyway. ==>Frosty!
Opinions?
I know I know you have to see it. "can you hold the coin closer to the phone"
