I would really hate to call it a 66 because of all the small hits on the face. I see 2 different lines of bagmarks of 3 reeds each, some hits around the mouth and eye and a scrape at the bottom of the neck by the date. If the marks are shallow then I would say easy 65.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
I would say a solid 64 might make 65.I see to many hits on the face. Chin, jaw bone area are prominent. Then if you look near the eye and at the base of the neck you will see more marks. The reverse looks real nice.I only see a couple of small marks under the "T and E" in states. The marks directly across from the eagles beak near the wing and near the "O" in one look like they are on the holder.
Placid -> are those scratches in the field and on the neck actually on the coin? or are they on the plastic slab? If on the coin, do you have others like that? Seems like it could be a grade review candidate from the photo.
My only experience with a PCI coin crack-out was a MS65 going to ANACS MS60 net - environmental damage - and I have no idea what kind of environmental damage ANACS saw.
Cross it and find out. As others here have pointed out" ITS A SCAN". How can you possibly assign a grade to a coin if you can't rotate the coin under a light and see the luster move?
No opening bid yet. Opening is $1,450 with a BIN of $3,500. Bluesheet bid is $3,450 and Greysheet bid is $5,250. Everyone that thinks it is a properly graded MS66 has a helluva chance to make a great purchase. Get yourself a return privilige on the coin, rotate it all you want under a light source and make the call once you got it in your hands. Me...I got no use for that coin even at $1,450 money. Its a nice 65 nothing more, nothing less.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
It's not my coin so I can't try to "cross it" to PCGS or NGC.
It is currently for sale on eBay.
I would tend to agree. When you see something like this it makes you wonder why the dealer doesn't cross it.
I know that I would if it was truly a MS66 coin.
I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.
Always looking for nice type coins
my local dealer
I would suspect that somewhere along the line, somebody DID cross it....From a PCGS/NGC MS65 to its current holder.
