I'm Off To The Coin Store

High! I'm so happy I don't have school today, and what's the best thing to do on a day off from school... get some new coins! Today I went to the coin store and I got a new Indian Head for my collection. I'm starting a collection of Indian Heads and I already have 12 coins. Today I got my first Copper Nickel which was 1860. All my coins are between Good and Fine. My Copper Nickel is in G-6 and when I got it today, I think it looked better than others in VG. My seller looked through the coins and helped me pick out the best three. The others were corroded. The words "United States of America" were a little dark and that helped it make it beautiful. The coin itself was grey-brown. Thank you all again who helped me out with my beginner coins!

My sister also went to the coin store with me and she wants to tell you in her own words what she got. "High! My name is Elana. I collect Walking Liberty Half Dollars. I'm putting the short set together. Dad is helping me. I got two today when I went with my brother. They are VG/F. It's lots of fun going to the store on a day off from school."

I love seeing enthusiasm like this, and the appreciation for the beauty of circulated coins. Great thread, Morey and Elana. Thanks.
  • Welcome.

Brings back memories of the days when I was too young to drive (wasn't that long ago) and had a nearby coin dealer where I could walk to. Sounds like you found a good dealer who is there to help out new and young collectors like yourselves.

I've been collecting seriously for about nine years now, and only recently have I found the enjoyment and challenge of completing an entire series. Good luck, and I hope you and your sister stay with collecting.

Congratulations on your trip to the coin store. It sounds like you found a very good dealer who is willing to help the two of you. Welcome to the boards, and let us know about your progress from time to time.image
