One more toned Barber dime - comments please

Thinking about getting this one. What do think it would grade and does the toning look natural?

My guess is au. Is that a die crack or a scratch from the base of the neck to the rim?

I'd think it is natural (I have some like it- mercs, that is) but I'd wait for more answers... nice coin, regardless

  • Based on the orientation of the other shadows, I'd say that's a die crack.

  • AU and cleaned. If the photo is accurate and the colors are truely represented... It has toned naturally and quite nicely!

What are the indications? I'm not questioning it, I'd just like to know what to look for.

Nice toning...probably natural...if ever cleaned, not harshly it seems...contact marks don't detract too much...i'd give it au 58...does have some "rub"...this date is slightly better...higher mintage nice au Barber dimes are $50 coins these days...this coin i'd be a buyer at $75,maybe $80 or so...i'm thinking $100 is too much...

i know you didn't ask how much i thought it was worth,Casey, but i give you my opinion anyway...image...that does look like a die crack from the base of the bust to the rim to me...
