DSL's recent listing of 1972s on ebay was fantastic and contained many of the cards i needed for my set...I think the prices realized were very robust and will hopefully encourage others to list more 72s in PSA 9!

Too funny. I wish I had thought of that one.
I haven't gotten into the '72s all that much, but I hope to soon. Maybe several more posts by '72 collectors will spur dealers/sellers to submit/list more cards. From what I've read, they've been scarce lately but there is a market for them.
EOMint - keep buying and they will continue to submit and sell the cards. Good luck with the set.

Just wondering if I've been bidding against you.

I used to go to the Chardon Maple Festival I think it was when I was a kid....brings back memories!
Now I live and work in the Boston area...not a lot of top-tier hedge funds in Cleveland, if there were I'd move back in a hearbeat.

My friend, I would agree with you that DSL rules in 1972 PSA 9 Baseball cards. I have received some of the nicest 72's in my set from Shane @ DSL. He is always very helpful when I've called and is one of my favorite Dealers to do business with. I also wish that they would accept Paypal.
Eventually, we will have a new and improved Fab Five @ the registry with complete 1972 collections in PSA 9 or better.
and recommend them.they get 5 stars
from me.
Wish I got grades like that.

Oh well, plenty of other dealers want my cash
Matt in the UK.
i have bought a few cards from dsl and all the 76 i have got have been real sharp. i agree with you that the bench is either oc or should have been down graded. a few of the bgs cards that i got from them i scratched my head and said i have never in my life seen a 76 that sharp, before zardoz says another sheet bites the dust, they all reside in psa 9 holders. i still think they were sheet cut.
if you need any help in 76 let me know and we can trade.

I sure am noticing both sides of the DSL coin witnin the past few months. I guess you either love'em or leave'em alone..............

They don't take credit cards, and their shipping charges are high.
But, if you've been looking for a card and they've got it ...
"buy the holder, not the seller".
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
I will not buy from them because:
1. HIGH shipping
2. No Paypal
With the excess shipping they charge that would about cover the Paypal fees.
I can wait for the card, sooner or later another QUALITY seller will have one.
Are you paying by check or money order? I pay by money order and typically get my cards within 2 weeks.
All,
I've bought dozens of cards from them the past 3 years. I've never received an over-graded card from them in that time. I highly recommend them too. I was also told recently by a collector who knows them and he told me they have they have tons of unopened or recently opened material. They get so many 9's and 10's because they have so many cards to select from. So you conspiracy theorists need to devote more of your time elsewhere like investigating the Roswell alien incident or the Vincent Foster suicide.
I get so sick of people claiming they have so-called high-end 8s, 9s, etc and that other cards are "sliders"...everyone claims that the cards they have are superior to the grade they are given and cards other people are have are not worthy of the grade...it's a joke. The whole point of PSA was to make the card market more liquid bu eliminating the subjectivity. I realize that no two cards are the same and that PSA will occasionally make a mistake, but come on people, this is absurd!

Same with me. I cannot believe how long it takes them to send cards. I would guess 4-5 weeks. With most dealers they don't even wait for the check--boom you have the cards within 2 days of when you buy them--I mstill buy from them on ebay but this is something they need to fix.

I do pay them by check -- but at the end of the day -- they should receive my payment in 3/4 days (at most!) and the check should clear in 5 business days (at most!). With four days return shipping -- there is no way that it should take anything more than 2 to 2 1/2 weeks to return a shipment, even if I pay by check. If I pay by money order -- I should receive the item within 7/8 business days. At most.
I'll still do business with them -- I have said time and again how happy I am with many of my purchases. I just can't believe their slow shipping standards. And, finally -- with *any* of my repeat customers when I sell on EBay, I ship as soon as the check arrives, and have never had a problem. I'm sure if DSL adopted some sort of similar service (e.g. over $1,500 of business with no problems -- ship right away), the benefits would outweigh the costs.

12/28/02 - Sent personal check for $215.83 to DSL
01/09/03 - Received email stating cards were shipped
01/14/03 - Received cards from DSL
I didn't think that was too bad considering I sent a personal check, cards were shipped 3000+ miles, and the fact that it was around the holidays. A total of 17 days - a little longer than I'd like, but the cards arrived securely packaged and I was happy with my purchase.
I just sent payment today for another lot of auctions that I won from DSL. I'll update everyone when I receive this shipment.

I must be the lucky one. I live in New Jersey, pay by check, and receive my cards in a maximum of two weeks, sometimes less. For some reason, unknown to me, shipments from California get to me in South Jersey, much faster than shipments from the midwest, especially Michigan.
There isn't much of a "personal touch", when you win a DSL e-bay auction, but in my experience, I have always been pleased with their prompt shipping.
Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
As previously stated, I sent them a payment (personal check) for 5 PSA graded cards on 1/30. I received the cards on 2/8! That's better delivery time than most sellers that I deal with who only accept payment by mail. I also missed an auction for a card that they had listed and ended with no bids. I emailed them stating that I was interested in the card and they responded promptly saying that the card was still available - they sold it to me for their original minimum bid. I sent a check for this card on 2/6 and received the card today (2/14)!
I think they do a great job. Sending a check by mail is a minor inconvenience ($0.37 additional for postage - ouch, that hurts ) and the $4.00 s&h charge is outrageous, but, if you factor these two constants into your bid, you will end up very satisfied with your purchase. I have paid many sellers within minutes of the end of auction (by paypal or other online payment) and waited well over 7-10 days to receive cards.

all double what DSL sold me ALL the high numbered ones for! I paid $35.00 each and your Putz reference wants $75 for non-high numbers! NOT

I made no relational comparison except to note that whoever is selling those cards on the website you posted is not doing anyone here a favor @ $75 per each LOW numbered card.
