Claymont, DE coin show report

I arrived a little after 10 am and I had to stop at Home Depot to buy a new ceiling fan for my uncle. The hall where the show takes place is being renovated and next year show moves to Newark, DE. The main entrance is under constuction and everybody had to enter through side door. When I came in I almost fell down . The door is about 2 feet off the floor level and no one bothered to put "watch your step" sign. After that I dived in for about 3 hours.
I know that you heard it before but I’ll say it again: BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!! Tons of people walking around and buying. From I heard it was like that since the show started.
Tons of coins but little of interest, I've seen just a few slabbed coins that make me looked interested chain cent in ef40 (uniform porosity) and 1942/1 merc in 62FBL. For a long time I could not find anything interested to buy. I was shocked and surprised by a couple of dealers. I heard words I thought I would never hear from a dealer "Do you have any coins for sale?"!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly I did all my trading with other dealers when I was buying the coins
I think thighs are getting tough for dealers they cannot find coins to replace their inventory. I have NEVER spent so much time walking around looking for coins (and the floor was do freling cold I couldn't feel my feet at some point). I felt bad for dealers about the cold (I was the second major complaint I heard). I came with an idea to buy slabs only but within 10 min. I came to the realization that would be impossible (no good slabs) so I gobbled some raw coins:
Now back to the coins: I was able to buy some well duh that's why I went
My first purchase was a no brainer for my 1859 proof sets. I was able to buy TWO raw 1859 trimes looking 63 for $375 each!!!! They will be shipped to PCGS (my two free grading coupon, along with my quarterly special)
After an hour of walking I bought two more coins: 1852 cent repunched date ANACS AU50 that looks just like MS coin. There is some wear behind the ear but otherwise wow.
With it I bought 1855 half cent (broadstruck in AU. In addition to it being an error this coin looks like it's struck in brass not copper, it has this strange yet lovely color.
After another hour of walking I bought my final coin. Since I collect halves it would be stupid to leave without buying one. So I stopped and I bought 1877-CC half (cleaned) in AU. When I came come I took a closer look and BINGO repunched date (77).
At this point I was out of cash and went home.
I'll scan and post the coins when I get my computer back (it's being repaired)

The place was torn up pretty bad as the new hall owners are renovating, and from what I hear, making it known that the coin club is not welcome back. HUMPH! They will have the show next year in New Castle just south of Wilmington at a place called NUR Temple. Its a shriners hall, very nice clean place with lots of space and a kitchen. Oh, plenty of parking too. The show was the busiest I've seen for the Delaware show. I was happy because we don't have an abundance of dealers in the area, and their stock turns over very slowly. I was picking hard for high end raw Franklins and Washington Quarters. The Franklins as expected were tough. Lots of coins to choose from, but finding the few dates I needed was a challenge, then finding ones that were not marked up horribly and marked at MS-64 or MS-65 (HA!!!) was almost impossible. I looked at about 70 halfs and came home with 3 more for the collection including a 1951 D in a solid true MS-64 with FBL. I looked at a few slabs, but as expected they were junk with marks, scratches, and edge nicks slabed at MS-65 and other high grades that were not even close. Gosh I hate slabs.... The quarters were more plentiful, and I sat for several hours going over a lot of the dates and MM I needed. I finished off the 50's dates and took another chunk out of the 40's dates. I have 5 more 40's dates to go and then I need to get the serious bucks out as I'll need to fill those last 30's spots. Prices were generally very reasonable and most dealers were willing to discount and bargain at least a little. Many dealers were looking to buy. There was a good variety of coins as well. At least one dealer with a ton of goregeous Morgans. His table was just ablaze with them, and was a sight to see. Lots of gold and currency was out as well, but I didn't see a lot of the gold moving. Saw quite a few collectors doing dimes, Mercury and Roosevelts which were hot. Thats about it for now.
That show is a 50+ dealers show and fairly busy. I noticed a lot more of young people on the floor as well. I think people were buying just about everything!!!
