$10K Authorized Dealer Guarantee?

A while back I believe that PSA had a program that guaranteed all transactions with a PSA authorized for up to $10,000.00. Does anyone know about this? Does it possibly pertain to the possible loss of money that one might have incurred regarding dealings with WIWAG?

  • If I remember correctly, I THINK it was a program that you had to opt into, for a certain payment ($300/year? something like that) - but yeah, this is a very interesting point.

Edit: The DEALER had to opt into the program by paying the yearly fee, so he could advertise being a "gauranteed dealer".
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?
  • Does anyone know if WIWAG was part of this program? And if so, is PSA libel for each transaction?
  • what sense would it make for psa to offer that? here is an example: Wiwag gives psa 300*12months=3600 dollars for the year, then puts out thousands of fake or modified cards, then psa has to gurantee them. Meaning psa takes the hit for wiwag screwing everyone, while all along wiwag was planning to do it. So psa goes around paying back all the guranteed cards and wiwag sits there cashing out the checks. Something about that just doesn't make sense

I'm an authorized PSA dealer and I never heard of such a program, nor was it ever offered to me, and I've been w/ them for 3 or 4 years. Then again, what benefit would it serve me to spend $300 monthly? If the cards I submit are non-authentic or altered, they won;t be slabbed anyway. And whatever PSA does slab, they stand behind them, so I don't get the concept. Plus in all the time I've been an authorized dealer times the $300 monthly fee, that comes to $11 to $12,000.00 - I'd rather spend that dough on my own registered sets...jay
  • Jay that was 300 a year.

Boggs - I got my figure from Cyphilissb post, sorry! But still, I would rather use that $1000 on my own sets or to keep the wife from bothering me image ...jay
  • Well I know for sure that this program was offered by PSA. Matter of fact I can recall VSI (Marc Perna) had that program advertisized on his web site at one time. I think Andy Madec also participated in that program.
  • Mile Hile Card Co. has info on this page - http://www.milehighcardco.com/Main01.htm, but I don't know for sure that the program is still active. You used to be able to click the link and it would take you to a page where the program was explained. I personally thought it was a hard thing to describe to people. Just like Brian in his explanation on the page. It's like saying in your ads - I'm not a crook and won't rip you off, but if I do, then this program will cover your loss, except of course if I rip you off for more than 10k. Jay is correct. Most dealers stand behind what they sell, be it $15 or $15,000. I'd rather try to convince people that I am the guaranty they need. In our minds we don't need something like this. If there's any problem we fix it. But it isn't for people like us. It is for brand new people coming into the hobby who are not sure who to deal with. Seeing something like this might make them feel a bit more comfortable about who they might deal with. But then again to a brand new guy, a dealer having a 10k guaranty from a company he hasn't heard of yet doesn't matter to him too much. The idea is good, it just needed to be tuned up a bit on how it was implemented.
