Cool FUN coins part II, Blay's 1807 MS67 Bust Quarter & a rare copper FE pattern

These two coins were a privilege just to hold. Stewart posted this in a previous thread but if anyone missed it it's worth a rerun. The crisp detail, smooth surfaces, subtle toning and velvety lustre were a clinic for me in what an original early coin is suppose to look like. The only Draped Bust Large Eagle quarter to grade 67:

The coolest coin I saw was a J-179 copper pattern. If you love the Flying Eagle design for its simplicity this coin takes it to another level. Labeled (1856) by PCGS, the exact date of strike is unknown and Snow lists this and the copper-nickel J-178 with the 1858 patterns in his attribution guide. It's an R6 on the rarity scale with perhaps 15 struck. Snow writes "Bronzed at the mint. All are deep brown proofs, although one example is graded PR65RB by PCGS". This is it:

Paul,
Super photos and very, very interesting coins. For me, However, I would never buy, for myself, a high-end coin without a date - yes, I know its a pattern, just my thoughts and preference.

The cool thing Snow pointed out were the 2 centering dots on the reverse. One is in the typical position, the other above the "N" in ONE, midway between this and the top of the wreath. They are different size suggesting that one centering dot was used for one purpose, the die polished, then the other centering dot "applied". This accounts for the different apparent sizes. I'm not clear what the top dot was the center of??
Great shots, Shylock. Both are great coins.
Paul are you gonna be at the NYINC tomorrow?
