The coins we wished we kept but didn't know better

Back in the early 70's (1970's) my brother and I would get a kick out of an
two headed lincoln we found. I think we bought a piece of bazzooka bubble gum with it.

Another I remember was a 2 sided obverse dime and no reverse.

Heck that was 10 pieces of gum.

The good thing is that those aren't real coins! They're magicians coins precisely lathed and snapped together. The best ones need at least 10x mag to see the seam. I almost remember those days, being born in '73. image It's always been my fortune to get back to being interested in coins during the up times... 1988-9, 2002-3...

In 1978 i baught a type date saint that i paid under 300 dollars for from a local dealer, after 4 years of owning it and the value going now where i desided to sell it for the price of a cool new stero and made 50 bucks profit. You might read this and say "so what" well i beleave the luster and surface quality of that coin was a shot 67! So if i wouldn't have sold it for around 300 in 82 and kept it untill 89, how much could i have sold it for in the fall of 89 in a 67 slab ? [sob]
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Penny gum and candy, that's what I wish didnt change. I'm OLD enough to remember that!

I had a whole collection of gem Silver Washingtons (32d & s were prob xf), beautifully toned in an album. Now with the popularity of Washington quarters, I guess I could have done real well.
I collected type gold, barber and bust halves. Didnt want to tie the money up so sold them to buy diamond ear rings for a sweetie. What a dweeb I was.
Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
