    I can't see the date.

It's hard to tell by the pic, because I know the dates on really worn Buffalos sometimes can be seen much clearer depending on the angle you're looking at it from. But, based on the image, I would say AG-3 at best.

definitely choice for the grade! virtually full separation of all legends from rim, buffalo's head borders on having some detail, a terrific example - at "g-4".

your asking for too much if you expect a strong date on a b-nick at that grade level. it's a NICE coin.

BTW, have done biz w/ sce, i like them.
  • Obverse AG3,Reverse G4. I would think on this issue the obverse would determine the grade.

I think it's more a matter of a poor, or too bright pic, than a misgrade. The rims seem solid, the date probably shows better in person than from that scan. I can see the coin grading good/4, and I bet it looks a bit better in person, than that bright image.

Lots of meat for a GD04. Very fair grade given by ANACS.

  • I've seen slabbed Buffalos in F with less dates showing. I can clearly see the 8 and the line of the 7 where it needs to be. Excellent coin and value.

    According to Photograde:

AG-3 The rim will be worn down well into the letters. Only a partial date will show, but date must be recognizable.

G-4 The rim will be worn down into the tops of the leatters, "LIBERTY." The date will be readable but some of the numbers will be well worn.

From what I can see, the only number that is visable is the "8" and only the top half of it at that. Granted, the Reverse is nicer than the Obverse, but usually the Obverse is what determines the maximum grade.

  • Thats a nice coin. I think I'll go buy it right now...

Seriously, based on the scan that looks like a nice coin.

VERY solid G4. I've seen worse in a PCGS G4 holder. I think someone hit the nail on the head with the comment about the lighting. That might be closer to a G6.
