Is the Scan Doctor in the house?

We have spin doctors, card doctors and now "scan doctors". Bought a 1957 Crockett card PSA 7 on EBAY. On receipt, the card has a green stain on the right border. Checked the auction scan on 1000x zoom and no stain! Seller is "surprised" in his e-mail response and meekly offers a refund. In the scan below, the actual card scan is on top and the scan posted on the bottom is what the seller posted on the EBAY auction. Scary what you can do with Adobe Photo-Deluxe!

A good scan can make all the difference in having good results with your auctions and having GREAT results. There are ways to ethically scan and maximize the apearance of your card and then there's fraud! Your case is obviously the latter.
BTW - Photoshop is pretty sweet! There are tools in the package specifically designed to doctor the pics. Most people buy the holder and you nailed these suckers! Good job!

Alan

Alan,
This seller obviously did not have the "holder buyer" in mind as a target if they modified the scan to eliminate a print defect/ink (or whatever it is). This was intentionally done to scam an experienced buyer/collector.
JEB.
I've had some similar 'dishonest' dealings with people in the past. They've dealt with me somewhat fairly when I call them on their error, however, the last thing I want to do is to continue in stirring up the trash. However, on the flip side, it's important to tell people and inform them of potential problems....
My current problem... still pending...
